Pride…and joy!

It’s the little things, you know? Things that make you smile with anticipation?

Packing for a long overdue trip, for one. Actually, my somewhat OSD (Obsessive Suitcase Disorder) has been in full throttle since airline tickets were booked. Almost three months ago.

I have a thing about planning ahead but that voyage of preparations often runs aground each time I stop and re-think all that’s been put aside. The variables take hold and destination weather takes the lead as I constantly check the extended forecast for the trip.

So far, I’ve packed and re-packed approximately four times. Not just for myself but The Husband as well. That…takes the edge off randomly throwing just anything into the luggage, creating an almost methodical approach to packing only everything which will meet his approval. Or not. It’s a crapshoot.

At the end of this madness, the smiles of family I’ve been dearly missing will be waiting, along with warmer temps, sunshine and, in general, a much needed escape. The most joyful part will be the celebration of our oldest grandson’s college graduation, a wonderful reminder of so many magical things life brings.

Making the time to experience such joy is a blessing…and a gift.
